Content file not found
Post by totaltech on Apr 27th, 2017, 9:43pm

OK, booted my computer up and all the stickie folders and files all wiped and says date of the time that I just booted up and each time I boot the files all get the date of the boot up, everything is blank backups all delete, etc etc etc, everything gone, except the positions of all the files and the titles, just content gone, just says in big bold red letters Content File Not Found.

Any help will be great!

Happened again, seems to be related to windows 10 update, that completely wipes out the content of the rtf files. Any idea what is causing this! Basically folder gets reset and backup folder as well!

Sorry, looks like I missed your post the first time around.

If you've narrowed it down to when W10 gets updated then I can help you perform a backup before you start that process perhaps?

Otherwise, I've performed a number of W10 updates here, on multiple machines, of all three major updates since W10 was released. I've never had a problem, so it's not just that - there must be another factor involved as well.

What's the state of your data folder? If you open the folder (shown at the bottom of the About dialog), is there an "rtf" directory there, and what does it contain?

Happened a 3rd time now, backups only work if you don't backup to built in location, I have had the auto backups setup, but that gets overwritten as well, all the rtf files are there but get overwritten with blank docs and all at same time and date, not 100% sure it is after an update, but it has done it everytime on a tuesday when I start my pc up, which usually it is applying updates, they could be unrelated. but something is overwritting everything in the folder except the database files, the 3 folders "rtf, images, backups all overwritten and blanked out, the rtf files stay just end up being completely blank and all new dates on them, same as folders

I downloaded a mdb viewer and also notice the database is blanked out as well, not sure whats going on, but is continually happening that is for sure, just unaware of why?

If the database is also emptied, this starts to sound like your user profile is getting removed or zapped in some way and Stickies starts all over from scratch. That's especially true if you find the automated backups are being deleted - Stickies will write those files once, and then delete them when there are too many backups in that location (to save disk space), but otherwise they're left where they are.

When this happens to you, if the backups are also removed, then it sounds to me like something more serious is happening to your profile, and Stickies is just the thing which is affected which you notice most?
