xx Content File Not Found - after upgrade to latest
« Thread started on: Jul 27th, 2014, 10:35am »

I have a PC running WinXP Pro SP 3. I finally upgraded from v. 5.2 to v. 8 having backed up my stickies.ini file first. When I installed the new version, I saw about a hundred blank stickies open all across my screen. I closed the program and turned off my computer for the night, figuring I'd fix it today.

Now the program starts up on boot all right, and I can get into it in the normal way, but my stored (closed) stickies all say "Content file not found." I ran "Rescue offscreen" and nothing happened. A data integrity check shows no problems. I am going back to the older version, and restore from my last backup. I have never had this problem on my laptop, which runs Windows 7.

Has anyone experienced this, and is there a fix for it? I am also writing to Tom. Thanks.

I've been writing to Bluejay99 to help with this - v5 is so old now (9 years) that v8 won't recognise the data file format it uses. The solution is to install and step through older versions of Stickies, using each to upgrade the earlier data file format.
