« Thread started on: Feb 18th, 2014, 3:39pm »

I've lost all my stickies, all my backups, everything except for the program itself. I have tried SSIT. But the backup files like stickies.24h, stickies.bak are coming up blank too.

The file store.mdb is showing a list of stickies, but they have content like:
KeepDeleted=32
Hook=001083
Alarm=,1
AOTdefault=1
PPC=0

etc...

I do have a computer back up, but the latest one is from last August (too long ago, I know.)

My computer crashed yesterday. Related? Probably, but I don't know.

Does anyone know if anything can be done to restore what I've lost?

That sounds horribly broken I'm afraid...

My best suggestion is that I hope you have System Restore enabled. Find the Stickies data directory, and right-click it, select Properties, and then Previous Versions. Is there anything useful in there?

In any case, take a copy of the current contents first, in case you need to check through them at some point. If the MDB has plain text in it though, that sounds like what under FAT would be a crosslinked cluster. Not sure whether that's still possible under NTFS, but in any case, it's not good... :(

Thank you! I got my information back. The shadow copy worked, using SSIT.

My stickies don't seem to be working very well. I can't back these up now, nor can I roll them. So I'll transfer all the info and update my version of stickies. I shouldn't be relying on them as much as I do in any case. Lesson learned.

Thanks again!

If you're double-clicking the title bar to roll/unroll, that's a setting which needs to be made. SSIT will restore your data, but not settings.

What problem are you seeing with not being able to back up?
