Display on Startup
Post by Jamesiv1 on Apr 20th, 2017, 10:39am

Is it possible for a stickie to automatically display (in the last position) when Windows boots up? Without have to launch Stickies and then open/restore a stickie...

Thanks!

hmmmm.....

I see this on the home page:

Quote:
Main features:

Once on screen, stickies will remain where placed until closed, even through reboots

But I just did a reboot and it didn't work?

On a Windows 10 Pro machine.

The Stickies installer sets the app to start with your machine, or when you log on. Is there an entry for it on the Startup tab of Task Manager?

After that, the whole point of the app is that notes stay where you put them. If that's not happening for you, and they end up at different positions on the screen, then perhaps you have some other software which is "helpfully" moving your notes around at machine boot. To check that, try closing and then re-running Stickies without a restart to see that they come back where you left them?

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your reply.

I have nothing on the Startup tab of Task Manager, nor do I have anything in the Windows startup folder. When I restarted earlier this afternoon, I had not saved my stickie. Does that have anything to do with it? I only have 1 big, long stickie at the moment. I am going to reboot before I leave work and see what happens.

I might also mention that this is my work computer, and my normal company Windows login does not have Admin rights. To install a new program, for example, I run the executable, get prompted for an Admin login, enter it, then it will install.

Wonder if that might have something to do with it.....

When you installed Stickies, did you perform an install for all users, or just the admin user you used to put the software on?

The only difference between the two is where the installer places the link which launches Stickies - and seeing as you say you don't have one, I guess you performed a "just for me" installation. Try either moving the shortcut .. or re-running the installer, and choosing "all users".

Thanks Tom. I will give that a try and report back.
