You're telling us that you are unable to paste an image into a stickie?

Correct, Cynthia.

I can't paste jpg, png, gif, or tiff files. sad

I've tried copying images from dozens of websites. Nothing works.

I used to do it all the time, but now no images will go into the stickie.

You copy images from websites and then try to paste them into stickies. Sure, Iíve done that plenty of times. Try a picture already stored on your computer. Using your favorite method (there are several) try putting that picture in a stickie. Does it work OK?

No pictures from the pictures library would appear in the stickie.

I tried about 10 pictures from the downloads folder. None would appear. Then one did appear. And then another dozen or so failures.

No pictures from One Drive will appear in the stickie.

I tried opening pictures in paint and paint.net first and then copying them, Nope, that didn't work either.

If I uninstall stickies and then re-install it, will I lose all the stickies I have sleeping and recurring?

I'm assuming you've already determined that the issue you're experiencing is only happening when using Stickies and that it is not happening when using other software.

I am no expert on what types of stickies you could lose after reinstalling. Personally I rarely use sleeping and recurring stickies.

Here are the steps I usually take to install or reinstall:

-Sometimes, especially if I'm about to reinstall because I'm experiencing issues, I will do a little (or a lot of) cleaning up, mostly closing or deleting any notes which are causing a problem.

-Then I manually save the entire Stickies data folder. Manually (with hidden folders showing) I go to C:\Users\Cynthia\AppData\Roaming, and inside the Roaming folder, I copy the entire folder called "stickies" and paste it somewhere safe. You can also access this folder by right-clicking the Stickies tray icon, choosing "About Stickies", and select the path for the data folder at the bottom of the "About Stickies" dialogue.

-Then I exit Stickies.

-Download the latest Stickies and install.

I downloaded version 9.0e and everything seems to be working normally again.

Thanks for your help, Cynthia. smiley

P.S. Downloading a new version does NOT delete your current stickies (just in case someone asks you. wink )

While I have your attention ... how do you get rid of a stickie your done with forever? That little nugget of information seems to be hidden somewhere around here. Is it ALT + Close or CTRL + Close?

Glad you had a happy ending. I was pretty sure everything would be resolved; the worse the problem, the better the chances that a reinstall will fix it. Hopefully that problem doesn't show up again.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that installing a new version normally preserves your current stickies. It's simply that I don't want to make that promise. smiley Over nearly ten years, I recall only one or two times experiencing something unexpected when installing. As a result of that, I simply assume that all of my stickies are doomed unless I back them up. My most recent blunder was not backing up to a flash drive. Then when my hard drive failed ... oh well! Nowadays my standard back up is zip up the stickies data folder and e-mail it to myself once a month.

Keyboard shortcuts are in the Stickies help file. Tom has made the delete function a bit hidden so that people don't accidentally lose data. A few skins have a delete button; if you want a delete button, you could shop around for a skin containing one. The keyboard shortcut for close is Ctrl+D. The shortcut for delete is Shift+Ctrl+D. You can also delete a closed stickie from the closed category inside Manage stickies. Just right-click any of your closed stickies and you'll see the delete option.
