xx Attach Stickie to folder. How?
« Thread started on: Jan 6th, 2018, 4:31pm »

Hi,
I have been using stickies for a few months and it is really great. Can't say I am a power user or someone who knows it inside and out.

The feature that allows you to attach a sticky to a folder. I tried it and the sticky disappeared from my screen.

Here is how I did it.
1) WIN+S to make a new sticky, typed test in the sticky
2) Right clicked the title bar
3) Selected Attach, "Attach Sticky" popup box appears
4) I wanted to attach a sticky to my downloads folder (Windows 7 Pro) so I put this in the Title box (1st box) "C:\Users\Chris\Downloads"
5) Clicked Ok and the sticky disappeared from my desktop
6) Opened my downloads folder to find the sticky, I don't see it.

What am I doing wrong?
I thought if you attached a sticky to a folder you would see the sticky in the folder when you opened it.

Set up your test sticky as before. Open the downloads folder. Right-click the title bar and choose Attach. Note the check box option to have the sticky appear only if the folder is visible (not minimized).
Now attach the test sticky by choosing the downloads folder from the list; do this by double-clicking the downloads folder from the list or highlighting the folder and choosing OK at the bottom of the Attach dialogue. Voila, your sticky is attached. Now whenever you close the downloads folder, the sticky will vanish. Whenever you reopen the downloads folder the attached sticky will show up with the folder on the desktop.

--A sticky attached to a folder does not appear inside the folder. The sticky simply appears when the folder is opened.
--Attached stickies may be managed in Manage Stickies. Right-clicking attached stickies inside of the Manage Stickies dialogue gives you the ability to make a number of changes - detach, print, edit, close, etc.

Sorry if this is not relevant for win7 users but when i tried attaching a sticky to Downloads folder it fails to show up to shocked

It seems ( on win10 ) that the title depends from where you opened the folder in quick access the title does not have the full path.

The solution for me was to use asterix : *Downloads

This worked Cynthia. I was not selecting the folder from the list. I was typing the path in the title bar. Thank you.
