I'm using Stickies to build up a collection of common keyword strings, under different subjects, for transferring to photographs. I've recently bought a programmable keypad (Cherry G84-4700) and programmed a couple of the keys with the standard Copy and Paste keyboard shortcuts, Crtl-C and Ctrl-V.

These work fine with every other program I'm using but not with Stickies - is there a way of getting it to work with Stickies?

That surprises me - Stickies doesn't do anything "funny" with copy or paste. What does happen when you press those keys - and how do you program them in the Cherry software - does it let you choose "copy" or do you add "control" and "c"?

Hi Tom

To program the keypad - first I select the keypad model in the software and it then shows a diagram of the keypad. I select the key to be programmed and then it shows another diagram of a full keyboard, and then I just select the keys in sequence. The only thing different from the normal keyboard is that any of the modifier keys have to be entered again at the end, otherwise it acts as if I'm holding the key down. So for Ctrl+C, I select Ctrl, then C, then Ctrl again. These are saved to a file so I can have other sets of commands for different software.

With Stickies the keypad does nothing - it won't copy anything to the clipboard from Stickies and if there is anything in the clipboard it won't paste into Stickies but will paste into other text files such as notepad. I've also tried programming a key with a text string - 'This is a test' - and again this can be pasted into notepad etc. but not into a Stickie. I've tried it with another 'stickie' type program and it's fine with that but I don't really want to have to transfer to another program if it can be avoided, so I hope you can figure it out. But don't spend a lot of time on it just for me if it's going to be a major problem...!

If you want to have a look at the Cherry software it can be downloaded from here....

Thanks for your time - Vince

Edit - Thought that link would take you directly to the download page but it seems to go only to the search page - anyway, the model is G84-4700 USB
