xx tabbed style stickies?
« Thread started on: Nov 1st, 2016, 05:27am »

hi Tom,
an idea smiley
I have about 10 desktop stickies active, but normally only the 2 most in use ones open at any time ... but I tend to need to switch round which stickies are the open ones

...so was thinking that maybe a tabbed style of stickie might be cool - ie the title bar could be slightly longer than the body of the note itself, hence giving it a tab handle - this would allow easy viewing of the alarm icon, plus moving/rearranging the stickies would be easier imo

...there might already be a way of skinning this smiley

many thanks
dan

Skinning it - no, not that I can think of.

I guess my suggestion here would be to use Stacks - a way of showing and hiding groups of notes at once. Leave your inactive eight in a stacked-up stack, and swap the active two back into it (you can use drag and drop) and pull others out when you need to swap around?

hi Tom,
thanks for the reply
...ah ok - i thought that with stacks you had to stack/unstack all the notes at once? :/
...didn't realise you could also drag and drop them - i shall try that - thanks

...btw - will note alarms still work ok if stacked?

cheers
dan

...just had a quick play - I can stack/unstack - but not sure how you would drag individual notes to/from a stack? :/

It's true that the notes in a stack are either "all in the stack" or "all outside the stack". There's no in-between. If a stack has four members, it's impossible to have one of the notes on the desktop and the other three inside the stack.

These items are learned from the Stickies Help file:

At least 4 ways to unstack all of the notes: 1) right-click a stack and choose "unstack"; 2) double-click a stack; 3) if attention is on a stack, pressing the space bar will show all of the stickies in a stack; 4) some stack skins have a button to press which, if left-clicked one time, will show all the notes in a stack.
Repeating one of the four options returns all of the notes to a stack.

On the desktop there are several ways to tell a note to stop being a member of a stack: 1) right-click the title bar of the note, choose stack, then choose "no stack" from the sub-menu; 2) delete the note; 3) close the note; 4) sleep the note; 5) attach the note.

To add notes to a stack, drag them over to the stack while holding the Shift key. "The stack border will turn red to show that the sticky is about to be placed into the stack." Alternately, right-click the title bar of a sticky, choose stack, and the name of the stack from the sub-menu.

"When a sticky with an alarm set is in a closed stack, the stack will expand, and all the stickies in it will be displayed when the alarm triggers." That sticky will sing, flash, and jiggle if you have those options set for alerts in options.
