Currently, some existing shortcut keys exist which cannot be re-defined.
Example : Alt+s allow to change the skin for a specific sticky.

It would be great to be able to choose which key combination to use for this feature, and for all features available thanks to a shortcut, and not only the 5 ones proposed in shortcurt tab of options menu.

Thanks to the author, great program, I expect it will displace the other sticky note programs I have been using.
I'd would also like to be able to redefine more shortcut keys.
I use Ctrl-D and Ctrl-Shft-D to insert the date in several other programs.
I will continue to have accidents if I can't change what they do in Stickies.

I use those two a lot. But the Stickies keyboard shortcuts for close (Ctrl-D) and nuke (Ctrl-Shift-D) should never take effect unless a sticky has focus.

I understand that but I want to insert the date in a Stickie the way I do in my text editor and several other apps and I delete it instead. It will be very hard for me to get used to using Ctrl-K in a Stickie while I use Ctrl-D in everything else

I'm pretty sure you could create a different shortcut for entering the date and time by using AHK. And we have just the person for you right here at the forum, an AHK expert, a longtime forum member who will now chime in...hopefully.

Not from an expert....

syntax for hotkeys:
https://autohotkey.com/docs/Hotkeys.htm

example for datetime remap hotkey:
User Image

The #ifwinactive ASticky just enables the hotkey only when a sticky is active.You can format to a different layout than stickies uses by "FormatTime" command.
https://autohotkey.com/docs/commands/FormatTime.htm

You can add more hotkeys beneath it.Just create the textfile and save it with ahk extension ( and install ahk..)

Greetings,

btw Cynthia any chances of the "earth and sky skin" avaible on the website?

There you are! And you've provided AHK basics in a mere few lines of post!

OK, I'll finish E&S; thanks for your interest. Haven't looked at it in awhile, but I know it's nearly finished. As I recall, the last thing I did was place a rainbow for an attached indicator. Good, now I know it will get at least one download. smiley

Nearly finished with the blue toolbar skin (as I've been saying for ages), and it will be available here at the forum until 9c is released.

I use Stickies v.8.0c.

While I think the shortcut keys in Stickies have already covered the basic, (I use Win + S to create new sticky notes, ctrl + T to make it stay on top, and F2 to change title), I do wish to have a shortcut to store Stickies directly to Manage Stickies window, so I could go mouse less and use the keyboard aggresively.

I was looking for a Notational Velocity/ nvAlt from Mac alternatives for Windows. A lot of things are covered by Stickies and I love it. I am really glad to know that this apps still have on-going development while the version that I use is already powerful.

Speaking about AHK script to write date, well I am not an AHK expert nor a long time member of this forum still I know a script that could trigger date and time by typing a shortcut. Here what I have:

When I typed double q, it will trigger "yyyyMMddhhmmss"(year - month - day - hour - minutes - second, i.e.: 20161120105146.

I have it from this script:

Code:
:*:qq::
{
FormatTime, xx,, yyyyMMdd
FormatTime, zz,, hhmmss
SendInput, %xx%{Enter}
SendInput, %zz%
}
	Return

If you want to modify it, you could use this pages as references:

https://www.autohotkey.com/docs/commands/FormatTime.htm
https://autohotkey.com/board/topic/43895-input-system-date-andor-time-when-u-press-a-hot-key/

I know it's late but I hope it would be useful, maybe for others.
