xx Show Enabled Status in main interface
« Thread started on: Sep 9th, 2013, 3:40pm »

Greetings, I would like to formally request that the "Enabled" status be indicated in the main interface.
I wouldn't care if there were a check box, an 'E' signifying enabled, or just the word 'enabled' along with the other descriptions (ie. safe, fake, rename...).

Just so long as I can look at the main GUI and be assured Bart is configured to my preferences. Some tasks I will run often via "Run all" while other task will be run much less often via "Run selected".

Thanks for considering my suggestion, and thanks for this excellent freeware. smiley

When you disable a task, the text turns grey as an indication. Does that not work for you?

Hi Tom,

Grey text...grey text...OK, I'm (sorta) seeing it now, but the text difference really is a slight effect on my monitor. So slight I never actually noticed before you mentioned it. Darn it all, now I have to go to the eye doctor. laugh

I would still prefer a clearer/more noticeable indication of enabled/disabled status. Just my 2 cents. Regardless, I will still use Bart because I like having the ability to pre-configure and run multiple tasks.

What if the title of the disabled item was also struck through?

Hi Tom,

That might work, I'm honestly not sure. Right now I have a 22 inch desktop monitor and the font is a bit small.

So to add 'striking' over the already small fonts...just not sure. I would certainly welcome comments from other users.

Ideally, the ability to increase font size and perhaps to make the font bold would be a great addition to the current color customization.

It does indeed seem to be a matter of local hardware. I use the Enable/Disable function a lot and fortunately I have no trouble seeing the difference between the rich blue text of an enabled task and the grey text of a disabled one.

On some job files I use a colour background on selected tasks. The relatively light colours I use do not detract from the enabled/disabled distinction. In fact, where I use a light grey background, the difference is very noticeable.

I imagine it would be easier to change the font (after al,l that is what changes at the moment, to grey) rather than add more indicators.

Just a though for Bartfan1000 - you could try changing the background colour of your tasks to see if the present distinction is more visible on your hardware.

Hi John Smith, thanks for telling. I had thought this problem might be unique since nobody else has mentioned it.

I had experimented quite a bit with the colors before my original post, and you are correct the lightest colors help to mitigate the issue. Presently, I have enabled tasks in a (very) light yellow which maximizes the font's visibility. Still the font is quite small, and my 5 year old monitor is not quite full HD (which I assume would render even smaller).

As noted, this isn't a huge issue which would prevent me from using Bart, but I took the time to mention it because I have had no other readability/visibility issues with a multitude of other programs.

Anyway, I would appreciate an option to enlarge the font, but I don't intend to pester Tom further on this issue.
