xx What does mean "Unable to stat" ?
« Thread started on: Mar 26th, 2013, 3:54pm »

When backuping with Bart some jpeg files, I get in Bart window the message "Unable to stat" followed by the name of one of the files.
I get it several 10th of times (for different files)
Nevertheless, files seems to be correcly copied.

What does this message mean ?

It means that Bart was unable to read statistics for the file - it will try to get the name, size and modification date. The name must be OK as otherwise the file wouldn't copy.

I've seen this at work on a large file system, and that was JPGs as well. In that case, Windows Explorer also wouldn't display size or modification date either.

Go look at the files in Explorer - can you read those values from them?

Congratulation, you're right !

None of these files has a Last modification date (nor a Creation date)
I do not ever understand how it's possible, but I just force a date on the files, and the error message is gone !

Thank you for answer, and also thank you for both Bart and Stickies. I discovered these to softs very recently, and I appreciate them a lot !
