xx Stickies 7.1b released
« Thread started on: Oct 9th, 2011, 07:05am »

Version 7.1b of Stickies has just been released. This is a recommended update - it contains a number of fixes, the most important two of which are:
  • Better data safety - a bug causing the app to write its data file at exit time, whether it needed to or not, resolved
  • Workaround for a bug found only on W7 connected with the app not starting properly, and so no sleeping stickies appearing

For a full list of fixes and changes, see here:

http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/stickies/versions.html

The download page, as always, is at:

http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/stickies/download.html

Please update to this release at your earliest convenience to help ensure the safety of your data.

Rats, rats, rats, I've made a mistake. There's a typo in 7.1b which causes the "Prevent Duplicate Recurring Stickies" option to stop working.

It was a quick and simple fix once someone pointed it out to me, and I've decided to simply fix it, and upload the fixed version as 7.1b still. It's only been a couple of days since the file was first uploaded, and it would be a lot of work to up the version to 7.1c.

There's a simple way to spot which 7.1b you're running - open the About dialog. If the message in the top-right corner is "(C) Tom Revell 2010" then it's the release with the broken option. If it says "(C) Tom Revell 2011" then it's the fixed one. Yes, this was something else I missed!

There is another Copyright message on that dialog, but it's the one in the top-right which counts for this check.

If you don't use that option, then there's no need to re-download.

Sorry for the inconvenience sad

Tom

Thanks Tom.

I got a 20 euro donation waiting for the day that graphics and text can be mixed in the same sticky, a la PNotes and TurboNote. I'll bump that to 21 euros if a "restore from backup" option is also included - I'd recommend locating it directly under the "Backup..." option in the tray menu *cool

Cheers
