I've got version 7 installed on Ubuntu 12.04. ( I used Crossover, third time I've successfully installed Stickies with this program.) Not sure what you mean by how do you use it. Can you open a new sticky? Also, I don't use the Unity launcher (if that's what you were referring to) so I don't know how to add things to that launcher. I use tint2 and the Stickies icon comes up automatically in the systray area.

I make use of Unity yes. Was hoping there was a way to add a Stickies icon to the Unity launcher.
And no, I don't know how to open a sticky.

I don't think I'll be spending money on Crossover.

Thanks for the reply!

Stickies shows up in my Applications menu under Crossover, but if I use the Unity plugin then all I have to do is search for Stickies in the Dash and launch the program from there. You can drag the icon from the dash search to the launcher bar to add it to the launcher. Just tested this myself.

Stickies comes up in the Dash (and I found the folder and files in the fake Wine C drive), but if I click the EXE, nothing happens.
This is the program I most miss since switching from Windows. The others can all be replaced. Stickies is a one-of-a-kind wonder.

Thanks again for the reply!

Hmm. It seems you may not actually have stickies installed properly. I can launch the program from the dash. Something similar happened with one of my Crossover installation attempts. I thought the program had been installed but the installation did not complete and so I couldn't launch the program. Did you install the DAO and JET files suggested at the beginning of this thread?

I'll be honest, I don't even know what the DAO and jet files are...

On the first page of this thread there are some suggested files to install before attempting to install stickies in order to get the program to install properly. Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 Registributable and JET40SP7_9xNT.exe. Did you install those?

Nope. I did not. Let me try that. It should obviously be through Wine, right?
K, I'll try.

Thanks!

You also might want to install Internet Explorer 6 or 7 in your bottle as well. Not sure if it helped me but I've always installed it first before installing stickies.

Hi Aamadis,

I did all of those things, and it seems to be working fine!

Thanks! Have a wonderful weekend.

A question: can I remove those programs now that Stickies is installed and working fine, or should they remain?
