xx Unable to update to version 9

I have a windows pc running windows 10. I have had the stickies program for a long time. When I check it, it says version 6.0c. Recently I saw that version 9 was available. I downloaded it and installed it. However, when I restarted my computer the next day, I had v6.0c come up. I tried deleting the strickies program from my system, reinstalling version 9 again. Again, when I restart my computer, v6.0c is loaded. Now when my computer boots up, it automatically adds a new, blank note to my screen which did not happen in the past. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I get version 9 to start?

Wow, v6 is really old...

Are you looking to update the app, or both update the app and also carry your data across. You might need to hop via v7 or v8 to get your data over as well, as there's been such a long time between the versions.

I only have 2 basic stickie notes so it is very easy to make new ones if I lose them. I would just like to know how to get rid of the old version for good and get version 9.

I just now tried uninstalling the program with IOBit Uninstaller. I used the link I have to install version 9. When I restarted my computer after the installation was competed, it reverted back to V6.0c.

This is what is so confusing to me. Where does V6.0c come from?

I don't recall - does it show the exe path in the About dialog? I suspect that's something which was introduced in a more recent version.

Otherwise, you could use Process Hacker to find where the running exe is located, or just search your drive for "stickies.exe". The app has always been called that. If you find that folder, there might be one or two other files in it which you can delete, but removing stickies.exe will certainly prevent that version of the app from running again.

I tried a search for the stickies.exe file, found it and deleted it. Then I installed version 9, and when I turn my computer off and then turn it back on, I get Stickies v6.0c every time.

In the "about" window, it just lists Data Directory of: C:\Users\Valued Client\AppData\Roaming\stickies\

It seems no matter what I try, I always go back to version 6.

Thanks for all of your help. I am open to more suggestions.
