xx Files deleted are not showing in the log file
« Thread started on: Jun 15th, 2012, 11:10am »

Hello,
Bart v3 beta4 does not log the files deleted after sync. The log shows only the "added" and the "updated" files. The lines that used to be pink in previous versions of the software are now completely gone.
Any idea how to bring them back?
Thanks

Try including -logexclusions in the command line.

John

I am getting the same problem, and I do have the -logexclusions on my shortcuts. I know it worked on beta3, but I have two computers that it has stopped working on now.

Are other people still seeing the deleted items in the detailed log?

I can confirm that when using the latest beta ,deleted files are not show in the list when i run it. ( filedate 24 04 2012 )

Minor issue :Using the GUI to start a job,the job is already indicated as selected ( border ) but you still have to click on it otherwise it does not run.

Best regards,

Dear all,

Yes, you are absolutely right... Beta 4 does not report deleted files!

It counts deleted files, but it does not report them; neither in the detailed log, nor in the log window.

John

The previous version of the app didn't though either, did they?

Looking back at the source for v2, it also doesn't mention deleted files.

I guess that because it _does_ report deleted directories, it makes sense to report deleted files as well. I'll ass it.

I am not talking about deleting an entire directory. It is perfectly logical that when an entire directory is deleted, to report only the directory and not everything in it.

I am talking about reporting a single file deleted. Shouldn't this be reported?

Now, what do you mean by "ass it"? laugh

Ahem, that would be "add".

Yes, we're on the same page - when individual files are deleted, they get reported.

Had you asked me whether Bart does this, I'd have said that it does, so I'm not sure why it doesn't already!

Confirmed!

For some reason, Beta 4 does not report single files being deleted.

I checked and double checked and I am certain.

Have a look at the log below:

Job started (using default.job)
Starting the task "Test"
Done.
Changed: 0, Same: 1, Deleted: 1, Skipped: 0, New: 0, Saved: 0, Errors: 0, Bytes (new): 0
Bytes (change): 0, Time: 0s, Source count: 1, Source size: 0

How to reproduce the bug:

1. Create Folder_1 and place 3 files in it.
2. Create Folder_2.
3. Create a task and copy everything from Folder_1 to Folder_2.
4. Delete any number of files in Folder_1.
5. Re-run the task and you will see that although the files in the target are actually deleted, there is no report on that.

Regards,
John

The code you have there may report them, but the code we download from here http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/bart/bart3beta4.zip does not report them!

Ok ok smiley I've bumped the beta to 5, which adds a debugging option, and also the reporting of deleted files.

We are back to normal! kiss

All those who had experienced the same problem, please do a test run of beta 5 because I am moving to a new Operating System and will not be available during the next few days.

The new beta does not run (on my system winXp):

msgbox gives:

This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

These are the properties ( size is almost double than previous one??)

bart.exe 208Kb 26/07/2012

Hum, this is going to be a problem. I think what's happened is that a MS security patch to DevStudio has meant that the exes it now puts out need a similarly patched version of the runtimes.

If I have it right, this is the file you need:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347

Do you keep your system up to date with MS patching? I'm concerned that this might be a problem for lots of people...

(assuming this is the solution of course)
